In short
- On Apple TV the real choices are native tvOS players: IPTV Guard, Zen IPTV Player, UHF and iPlayTV. TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro are not on the platform.
- All of them play a stream properly. The differences are in what is paid (profiles, sync, no ads), in the tools around playback (checker, monitoring, calendar, roulette) and in a few specific features (version grouping, recording through a computer, Plex and Jellyfin).

Search "best IPTV player Apple TV" and you get lists of fifteen apps, half of which do not run on tvOS, written by sites that sell subscriptions. This one is written by IPTV Guard, which is a conflict of interest we handle the only way that works: everything said about the other three comes from their App Store listings and official sites, read in September 2026, and what ours does not do is written in plain sight. The four below are the ones actually built for Apple TV that a French or European user will realistically choose between in 2026. IPTV Guard is not affiliated with any of them.
Who is not on the list, and why
TiviMate: Android TV only, no Apple version, never has been. IPTV Smarters Pro: the original app is gone from the stores, and the App Store app carrying a similar name is published by a different company. The Samsung and LG store apps: not relevant on an Apple TV. Apps with generic names and no identifiable developer: skipped on principle, since you will be typing your provider login into them.

Around playback: the checker that tests a playlist before setup, monitoring that warns when the playlist goes down, comes back or is about to expire, the Next Up calendar with your teams' matches, releases and new episodes, the exact channel of your playlist and an alert 15 minutes before, the Mood Roulette that picks a film from a mood or a sentence, up to five profiles with their own favorites, TV pairing from the iPhone by code or QR. In the player: skip intro, automatic next episode, sleep timer, embedded subtitles and OpenSubtitles, and the cause named when a stream cuts. No recording, no multi-view, no version grouping, no guide for M3U playlists (Xtream Codes needed).
Zen IPTV Player. Native on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac and Vision Pro, plus Android, Android TV, Windows, and Fire TV through an APK. French publisher. Free to download, with the Zen Access in-app purchase for profiles, cross-device resume, favorites, sync and football statistics. Its strong points: a very clean interface, automatic grouping of a channel's SD/HD/FHD versions, picture in picture, a warning when the subscription is watched elsewhere, 4K HDR and Dolby Vision, over 500,000 installs on Google Play.
UHF. Native on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and Mac, by a Spanish studio, Short Wavelength Applications. Free with a Pro tier by subscription; according to its site, the free tier shows ads and a watermark, and Pro adds cross-device sync, EPG reminders and family sharing. The widest list of sources of the four: M3U8 and Xtream, plus Plex, Jellyfin and Emby. Chromecast and AirPlay, Trakt integration, multiple picture in picture, parental lock, catch-up, Dolby Atmos. Recording goes through a companion program, UHF Server, installed on a computer on your network. If you mix IPTV with a personal media library, this is the one to try.
iPlayTV. Apple TV, iPhone and iPad, by an independent developer, a modest one-time purchase rather than a subscription. Multiple playlists (remote, Xtream Codes or file upload), search across all playlists, favorites, EPG, multiple audio and subtitle tracks. Fewer features than the three above, and precisely the appeal: simple, paid once, done.

"Not listed" means the app's store listing or site, as read in September 2026, does not mention it; it may exist. Prices and features move; the App Store page is the reference on the day you decide.
Pick by need
- You want profiles and sync without paying, a calendar that tells you which channel the match is on, and to know why it does not work: IPTV Guard.
- You miss version grouping everywhere else, or you also watch on Windows or Vision Pro: Zen.
- You have a Plex or Jellyfin next to your IPTV, you want Trakt, a parental lock or recording, and a Pro tier does not bother you: UHF.
- You want to pay once, get an EPG and favorites, and never think about it again: iPlayTV.
The honest close: none of the four is bad, and they are closer to each other than to the white-label apps that dominated the last decade. Install two, same login, one evening each. Whatever the choice, test the playlist first, so that the app does not take the blame for a provider that is down, and read the Apple TV setup guide for the five-minute install.

IPTV Guard on Apple TV is native and has no in-app purchase today: up to five profiles with their own favorites, the Next Up calendar that shows your teams' matches with the exact channel of your playlist and an alert 15 minutes before, the Mood Roulette for the evenings with no idea, monitoring that warns when the playlist goes down or expires, a player that skips the intro, rolls into the next episode and names the cause of a cut, and pairing from the iPhone so nothing is typed on the Siri Remote. It has no recording, no multi-view, no version grouping.

The original app is not. An app named 'IPTV Smarters Player Lite' is listed by another company; check the seller before entering your login. Details in our Smarters guide.
Do all these players work with any playlist?
All read M3U and Xtream Codes. IPTV Guard also reads MAC portals; UHF adds Plex, Jellyfin and Emby. Check each listing for your case.
Which one is free?
IPTV Guard has no in-app purchase today. Zen and UHF are free to download with a paid tier (on UHF, the free tier shows ads and a watermark). iPlayTV is a one-time purchase. Prices change; the store listing is the reference.
Can I install two and compare?
Yes, and it is the best way to choose. Same login in both, an evening each, and keep the one you reach for. Mind the connection limit of your subscription if both play at once.
